St. John the Baptist Church through the Years: Demystifying Albay’s Icon of Faith and Heritage

This paper profiled the St. John Baptist Church in Camalig, Albay, and Tabaco City, Philippines. It assessed church’s cultural significance as well threats, issues, constraints. qualitative research adopted mapping approach of National Commission for Culture Arts (NCCA). employed ethnography, historiography, participant observation methods mapping. Braun Clarke’s phases thematic analysis were applied to reveal inherent significance. Further, assessment was based on Four Fields Value Important Cultural Property. Findings revealed that both City possessed historical, aesthetic, religious attributes made heritage structure profoundly valuable. However, natural calamities funds church restoration are issues or constraints facing church. recommends a conservation management plan will focus guidelines, measures, protection must be fully protect City. Moreover, local government unit should conduct risk update hazard plans mitigate possible impacts these churches.
